Storywick is a children's storytelling app made for kids ages 3 to 8 and the parents who read to them. We designed it to collect as little as possible. This page explains exactly what we do and don't collect, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
When you first open Storywick we generate a random identifier and store it on your device's keychain. This identifier is the only way we know which device made which story. It is not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, or any other personal information. If you reinstall the app, this identifier survives so you don't lose your stories or your subscription.
The topic you type, the generated story text, the illustrations, and the audio narration are stored on our servers and on your device so you can re-read your library. Stories are tied only to the anonymous device identifier described above.
If you purchase a subscription or single-story unlock, Apple processes the payment and shares the transaction status with our subscription provider (RevenueCat) so the right entitlement is applied to your device. We never see your payment method, card number, or Apple ID.
If you allow notifications, your device sends us an Apple Push Notification token so we can let you know when a freshly generated story is ready to read. You can turn this off anytime in iOS Settings.
If something crashes or fails, we record technical details (which function failed, error code, model version) so we can fix it. These logs do not contain the topic you typed or any personal information about your child.
We use the following companies to deliver the app. Each one is listed with what they receive and what they're allowed to do with it.
| Provider | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Subscription / purchase events | Process payments, manage subscriptions. Apple Privacy Policy |
| Google (Firebase) | Anonymous device ID, story metadata, push token, technical logs | Database, authentication, push notifications. Firebase Privacy |
| OpenAI | The topic you type and the resulting story for moderation, generation, and narration | Generate the story text, the illustrations, and the audio. OpenAI Privacy Policy. OpenAI's enterprise terms prohibit training on this content. |
| RevenueCat | Anonymous device ID, subscription status | Route purchases between Apple and our servers. RevenueCat Privacy |
Storywick is designed to be used by parents and guardians on behalf of children ages 3 to 8. We follow the privacy principles of the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU GDPR, and the UK Age-Appropriate Design Code: no behavioral tracking, no third-party advertising, and the minimum data needed to run the service.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please email us at ugurkilic@live.com and we will delete it.
Your stories stay in your library until you delete them or delete the app. To permanently delete all data we hold for your device, open Storywick → Settings → "Delete my data," or email ugurkilic@live.com from the device you want erased and we will remove your stories, library, and entitlement records within 30 days.
Story content, metadata, and entitlement records are stored in Google Cloud's europe-west3 region (Frankfurt, Germany). OpenAI processes prompts and audio in the United States.
If we update this policy, we will change the "last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app the next time it opens.
